On February 25, 2009, we collared male FP-169 in the Turner River Unit and estimated his age at 4 to 5 years.
FP-169’s kinked tail.
On May 21, 2010, he was struck and killed by a vehicle on US-41 just west of Monroe Station. His “lifetime” home range during the 15 months we monitored him was 812 km2 and encompassed the Turner River and Corn Dance Units with a few brief excursions north of I-75 and south of US-41. We believe that he was the collared panther seen on several occasions at the Everglades Conservation Club on Loop Road, based on his movements and the sighting reports.
Lifetime home range of FP-169.
